                       IMPROVE VOCABULARY

But,yet, and yet

BUT

*The price of this car is reasonable, but there is no buyer so far.

*The price of the car A is reasonable but the car B is expensive.

*The price of the car is reasonable, yet there is no buyer so far.

*The price of the car is reasonable and yet there is no buyer so far.

One more example discussed over here,………..

*He studied well, but failed in the exam.

*He did not study well but he passed in the exam.

*He did not study at all and yet he passed in the exam.

Now slowly getting into

Though, although, even though

Let’s reconsider the same example we took before……

*The price of this car is reasonable, but there is no buyer so far.

*There is no buyer for this car though it’s price is reasonable.

*There is no buyer for this car although it’s price is reasonable.

*There is no buyer for this car even though it’s price is reasonable.

Surprisingly all these three sentences almost convey the same meaning but there is of course a small tint of difference between them.

Usually though could be used in colloquial English-say informal English, say conversational(spoken English) English……. something casual….. well though could be used in written English also.

Although, eventhough could be probably used for written English mainly.

These were simple sentences where we used though, although, even though in the middle of the sentence, now we shall use them in the beginning of the sentence….

*Though the price of this car is reasonable, there is no buyer so far.

*Although the price of this car is reasonable, there is no buyer so far.

“Though” also could be used at the end of the sentences.

This privilege is there only for though and it could be used in spoken English only, although and even though should not be used at the last.
The price of this car is reasonable. So far there is no buyer for it though.

A few more examples on the pipeline…

*I did well in the interview though it was difficult.

*I did the interview well.It was difficult though.

Whereas, while

The price of car A is reasonable but the car B is expensive.

With this example sentence let us see how we could use “while and whereas”

The car B is expensive while price of the car A is reasonable.
*While/whereas the price of the car A is reasonable, the car B is expensive.

While and whereas are used when we are comparing….
