ASK AND ANSWER COMMON QUESTIONS IN ENGLISH

ASK AND ANSWER COMMON QUESTIONS IN ENGLISH

Hey All,

In this blog post you are going to just get to know about the most common questions and the most common ways to answer them.

Would you just trust me you could even do it in a matter of 3 to 5 minutes.

1. Hey, how is it going?

This means how is life?

 Reply:

 Good.

 Going good.

This would apply for only when you feel fine and good.

When you actually don’t feel good you could answer.

 Not great.

 Not so good.

 Not so well.

2. How are you finding things?

This is just the alternate way of asking how are you?. Well, all the answers would be the same as for the previous example…. find it again below.

 Good.

 Going good.

This would apply for only when you feel fine and good.

When you actually don’t feel good you could answer.

 Not great.

 Not so good.

 Not so well.

3. How are you?

   Reply:

   Pretty good.

   Not bad.

4. What is your job/profession?

This means you ask what work does one do…

But this isn’t that good to ask in a social situation, because it might sound quite awkward.

Reply:

I am an Administrative officer.

I am a college lecturer.

5. What are you doing?

This can be used to ask someone what task they were doing at that particular moment or point of time.

You could answer this question by saying….

I am preparing breakfast.

I am organising my desk.

I am sending an email.

6. What do you do?

This is not similar to the one seen earlier. This means what profession or job you are into.

This could be answered by saying

I am an Engineer.

I am an English tutor.

7. What’s up?

It just is equivalent to saying “hello” or “hi”…

So you could give a “hi or hello or hey” as a reply….

Sometimes you could even just say “What’s up” again.

8. What do you do in your free time?

This is something which is used to ask about one’s leisure time activities.

The answers could be any of your choice, a few examples quoted below

I like playing games.

.

9. What are your hobbies?

This is just similar to the previous one and so could be the answers too.

10. What do you do for fun?

This is even a better or casual way of asking about one’s hobbies. Usually native English speakers use this.

Reply

I usually play golf.

I do cycling.

I do gardening.

Hope it was all fun,

Catch you soon,

Janet
